Overall Jupiter brings expansion and abundance, like a planetary plus sign that increases whatever it comes in contact with, be it the characteristics of a sign, a natal planet, or a transit aspect.

For instance, Jupiter’s passage over the natal Moon (representing the native’s feelings) could represent an upswelling of emotion. In the sign of Cancer, this native might be prone to cry, even happy tears.

Connected to the divine and ruler of spiritual signs Sagittarius and Pisces, Jupiter grants optimism and wisdom if we’re lucky enough to heed it.

Jupiter is also a benefic, meaning the planet brings prosperity and good fortune. I think of Jupiter as the conduit of blessings and answered prayers.

Gemini: Yin and yang

Gemini is the sign of duality, not as irreconcilable polarities but as a whole that encompasses both sides. Like the yin and yang symbol, the opposing forces incorporate a bit of each other, thus requiring one another to exist.

This is the most youthful of the intellectual air signs, often representing the precocious child and those whose playfulness follows them through life. Gemini placements are the type to be endlessly curious with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and uncovering how things tick.

Gemini curiosity can lead natives to enjoy tinkering with everything from Rubik’s Cubes and machinery to politics and social structures. Not ones to stay put, Gemini placements can be found moving about, enjoying frequent domestic travel, or picking up mobile hobbies like biking.

Timing: Blessing o’clock

After making headway through two-thirds of Gemini, Jupiter turned retrograde on October 9 (at 21º) and has since retraced its path through the sign.

When a planet is retrograde, it signals a time to reflect, revise, and reconsider. Although Jupiter hasn’t stopped the good times, we may have been pivoted or repositioned in this time to better align with Jupiter’s blessings.

Jupiter stations direct at 11º Gemini on February 4 and will continue to move through the sign until June 9 when the planet enters Cancer.

Starting in early February, we will be the most aligned with Jupiter’s expansion efforts.
